BET ON BLOCK Gaming’s Story
BET ON BLOCK begain as a passion for our owner Paul Shepard when he was at University at UNLV. It was there that his enthusiasm for video gaming took an extreme upswing learning all there is about being an administrator for his student collegiate Esports collegiate organization. From getting an underdog fighting games team to 3rd place nationally for a collegiate fighting game circuit that was televised on ESPN, to helping make history for UNLV with the Mountain West Summit as our teams took the trophy against Boise State during the Basket Ball Mountain West tournament in an exhibition series.
After graduating he took his knowhow of event logistics and collegiate esports and wanted to find a way to provide for his community. Thus BET ON BLOCK was born. In the beginning of B.O.B’s life Paul hosted small bi weekly Smash Brother’s tournaments across the street of UNLV where players would come down and test their merit in his “All In Showdown” Series. Unfortunately the COVID-19 Pandemic did not leave our leader unscathed. All In showdown had to cancel indefinitely as the world was turned on it’s head and Esports / live video gaming events took the biggest hit of all. Our Founder put his focus on collaborative events online with charity streams / events to keep people motivated to continue gaming and actively participating in the community. For fear of safety no one was attending live events, and the online event atmosphere was plagued with oversaturation and horrible internet connection limitations of popular titles. During that time Paul decided it was time to make a change for the BET ON BLOCK brand.
He went back to his roots and, made the realization that it was better to help grow the community in his own way, and that way was by helping others getting involved in Esports and gaming. He took on the role of an educator for the community with his years of knowledge in the field. Paul was a founding member of the local non-profit organization Nevada Esports Education League. With the focus of creating esports programs, and higher education opportunities for students of all ages using their talents in video gaming.
After running with N.E.E.L. Paul found that it was time to hit the streets of Las Vegas further, and spread the word of video gaming and Esports to more people. He became the consultant that he is today with the goal in mind that esports is for everyone! Any culture, and group, and person. Gamers are everywhere you look, and Las Vegas is the best city to grow that fandom, and it’s community. By helping businesses, grassroots organizations, and non-profits BET ON BLOCK Gaming is making Esports and video gaming better for all, one event at a time.
